History Of Jamaica Culture

Jamaica’s culture represents all the people that came to the island at some point in time and the influences and that affect the beliefs of the people. It is of such a rich blend and adds to the diversity of this country in such a unique way.

The Jamaicans are very artistic and through their music and dance, you get to learn about their ancestors. By listening the music and watch the Jamaicans dance, it’s like you can relate to the sorrows, joys, tragedies and triumphs that these people expressed in creative ways.

These folk music and dance that these people displays dates back to the days of slavery, the slavery use to make sweet melodies to take away the hard labor that they were enduring. After the country gains it independence they had songs that depict this celebration also.

Religion is also a big part of the Jamaican culture, as they are very religious persons and are very passionate in their beliefs. On the island you find persons with different religious practices such as Christianity, Rastafarians, Hindus and Jews.

The Jamaican food is a big highlight of the cultural heritage also; you cannot leave this island before sampling some of their cuisine. The Jamaican food is as reflective of the diverse and mix inhabitants and they all left something that is a mainstay in the Jamaican cuisine today.
